Choosing a bed size

SizeDimensionsBest for
Twin / Single97 × 191 cmChildren, small rooms, guest beds
Full / Double137 × 191 cmSolo sleepers who want room, tight rooms for couples
Queen152 × 203 cmMost couples — the everyday standard

Laying out the room

Center the bed on the longest unbroken wall and leave at least 60 cm (24 in) on each side you need to walk past. Keep the path to the door clear, and resist filling every corner — empty floor is part of what makes a bedroom restful.

Keep screens and work out of the bedroom where you can. The fewer things that demand attention, the faster the room signals "rest."
